There are two things I could talk all day about: travel and music. I shall proceed with the latter since there will be plenty of time to dive into my wanderlust ever since living in the City of Lights, Paris. Music is the rhythm Life and I dance to–ups and downs. Life is a dance party…
A concert I had been looking forward to since May finally arrived September 24th at 8:00 p.m. (to be exact) the Belgian musical genuis Stromae walked the streets of Chicago carrying/eating a pizza from a nearby restaurant from The Metro. Don’t believe me?
That was a planned concert–a little impromptu action is always welcomed #GoWithTheFlow. One of my good friends from high school called me Saturday afternoon asking me what I was up to later that day. “Nothing much” was my answer–she had a spare ticket to go see The Black Keys later that night, #CountMeIn. Despite being in my jamjams (pijamas), I got ready in record timing…I don’t play when it comes to music.
Now that I look back, this past year has definitely been full of live music from genres across the board ranging from Spanish to English and even French! Lollapalooza 2014 (Lolla) was one for the books–EPIC I’d have to say. The three-day music festival brought together so many of my favorite artists, and I even interviewed the talented Ximena Sariñana on behalf of Lawndale Bilingual Newspaper (my freelance gig).
Aside from Stromae and The Black Keys this past week/weekend, other artists I’ve seen these past few months include: Ingrid Michaelson, Jorge Drexler, Lorde, Phantogram (Lolla & at The Riviera Theatre–yes I like them that much!), Lykke Li, Calvin Harris, Duke Dumont, Gramatik, Martin Garrix, Chase & Status, Bomba Estéreo, Childish Gambino, Skrillex, GTA and Flume…to name a few.
Next concert RL Grime in November–can’t wait. Please share any artists you consider to be on a “must-see live” list, I’m always up for a good live show.
